Malta Democrats, Vote Harris to Handley!
Kamala Harris for President (https://kamalaharris.com/)
As the daughter of parents who brought her to civil rights marches in a stroller, she was inspired to tackle injustice from an early age. She took that mission to county courtrooms, the California Attorney General’s office, the United States Senate, and the White House. Now she is running for President of the United States to continue protecting our freedoms, delivering justice, and expanding opportunity so that every American cannot just get by, but get ahead.
Kirsten Gillibrand for Senator (https://www.gillibrand.senate.gov/)
Kirsten grew up in Upstate New York in a family with a tradition of public service. She followed their lead, first working as a lawyer, then finding her own path to public service. That path, which started at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and in 2006 she ran for Congress with commonsense ideas to reform congressional ethics, end the war in Iraq and introduce Medicare for All – and won. She brought unprecedented transparency to her House office and championed the needs of Upstate New Yorkers.
When she became a senator in 2009, she soon gained a reputation for taking on the toughest fights in Washington. She successfully pushed for the repeal of the discriminatory Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy; passed the historic 9/11 health bill, giving long overdue support to first responders; made gun trafficking a federal crime after more than a decade of advocacy; delivered benefits to veterans exposed to toxic burn pits; enacted some of the most critical workplace reforms in modern history; reformed the military justice system on behalf of our nation’s service members; and brought home critical funding for New York.
Paul Tonko for Congress (https://paultonko.com/)
A lifelong resident of Amsterdam, Paul has served as a progressive champion in the U.S. House of Representatives for the Capital Region since 2009. He is running for re-election to strengthen the voices of his constituents and all Americans who value good jobs, quality education, and economic and social justice.
Michele Madigan for Saratoga County Treasurer (https://www.electmadigan.com/)
“I was proud to serve as Saratoga Springs Commissioner of Finance for 10 years. I kept taxes stable, presented budgets within tax payer means and was honored to be re-elected for six consecutive terms in office. I have a proven track record of strong fiscal management and bipartisan accomplishments. Now I look to bring this same record of accomplishments as your next Saratoga County Treasurer.”
Minita Sanghvi for New York State Senate (https://www.minitaforsenate.com)
“We need a leader who will put people ahead of partisan politics and focus on solutions. I’m not a career politician. On the Saratoga Springs City Council, I have built a record of listening to people and working with others to deliver results that improve our community. I'm running for State Senate to create economic opportunity, protect our freedoms, invest in our district, and get the results we deserve.”
Carrie Woerner for State Assembly (https://carriewoerner.com)
Carrie Woerner entered public service when elected as a Round Lake Village Trustee in 2008 and serving until 2014. As a trustee, she formed an Open Space Protection group and proposed changes to local laws dealing with zoning and planning. Carrie Woerner was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2014. Carrie has been a champion of fiscal responsibility at all levels of government. Within the Assembly, Woerner has continued to advocate for responsible spending and is focused on improving the business climate for small businesses and farms, strengthening public schools, and protecting the traditions, heritage and culture of Saratoga, Washington, and Warren counties. Carrie is the chair of the Assembly Standing Committee on Small Business and a member of the Assembly’s Agriculture, Local Governments, Racing and Wagering, and Tourism, Parks, Arts and Sports Development committees, the Legislative Joint Commission on Rural Resources as well as Chair of the Legislative Women’s Caucus.
Rick Handley for Malta Town Board (www.rickhandley.com)
Rick has lived in the Town of Malta since 1996 with his wife Tambrey where they raised their three children. He has served as the vice-chair and chairman of the Malta Democratic Committee, and is an active member of the Malta League of Arts, and was a volunteer for Care Links in Saratoga County for nearly a decade. He is very familiar with local issues and frequently attends Town Board meeting and workshops. In 2018 Rick worked with the two Malta Fire Departments on a proposed local code to require fire suppression sprinklers in new residential construction in the Town of Malta.
“Town Government is very important in our daily lives; it plays a primary role in shaping the character of our neighborhoods, our recreation opportunities, and our health and safety. We need to find better ways to get residents involved in the major decisions of our Town. “
